Molecular Assays for Pathogen Detection

Dr. Milani’s research focuses on the development and application of ultrasensitive molecular assays for pathogen detection in blood screening and infectious disease research. Her work includes transcription-mediated amplification workflows for detecting low-level viral RNA, as well as digital PCR assays for absolute nucleic acid quantification.

In parallel, she leads the design and validation of RT-qPCR assays for a broad range of viral and parasitic pathogens, including arboviruses and Plasmodium species, to support donor surveillance and outbreak investigations. Across platforms, her research emphasizes rigorous assay development, analytical validation, and the implementation of robust molecular workflows for research and public health applications.
