Susanne Marschner, PhD is the Co-Director and Senior Investigator at the Vitalant Research Institute at its campus extension in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Marschner received her BS and MS from the University of Würzburg, and her PhD from the University of Colorado in collaboration with the University of Würzburg.

Research Interests
The Vitalant Innovation Center (VIC), as part of Vitalant Research Institute (VRI) Denver, will be providing innovations to the Blood Services Division (BSD) enabling the blood center to optimize the use of each blood donation. VIC activities will focus on process development and validations that directly benefit BSD. Through data generation, the VIC will generate evidence to help make informed decisions, and to successfully implement change in Vitalant’s products and processes.
VRI-Denver’s current capabilities include core technical expertise in discovery science, product and process development, study design and execution through the Transfusion Medicine Related Laboratory (TMRL), specialized cell sourcing, and independent investigators. This existing core technical expertise will be the basis of developing, piloting, and validating new processes for BSD in the future.
